Submit a Panopto Video using Web Capture in Blackboard (How-to)

This document will walk students through the process of creating or uploading a Panopto video as part of Blackboard submission requirement.

Submitting a Panopto Video in Blackboard

  1. In Blackboard, find the course and the submission requirement, e.g. assignment, discussion board, journal, etc.

  2. As a part of the submission process, click inside the textbox to activate the content editor menu.

  3. Select the Insert Content (+) dropdown menu in the Blackboard content editor and select Content Market.

  1. The content market will open. Select the Panopto Video Student Submission option.

  1. This will launch a new browser page with three option listed as tabs across the top of the page.  Select one of the following options to submit the video. You have three options:
    1. Choose an existing uploaded Panopto Video that you have previously created.
    2. Upload an existing video created or saved on your personal device to Panopto.
    3. Record a new Panopto video.
      1. You can record directly in your browser (this is the simplest approach).
      2. You can also choose to download and install the desktop application. You will be offered the appropriate installation depending on which computer platform you are using. This approach has more options and more complications.

Note for Capture (Browser): It will open a new browser tab. When you have completed your recording, you may close this tab to return to Blackboard for submission. 

  1. Once you have created/uploaded/selected your video, name the video recording, click Insert. Add any additional content as directed by your instructor. You will also need to Insert on the "insert Content Market item."
  1. Submit/Post the Blackboard requirement with the inserted video.

 

Note for assignments only: Once the video has been successfully submitted, a confirmation page will be displayed. It may take a few minutes to complete the upload process, depending on the size of the video. Please be sure to not navigate away from the page until you receive the success confirmation window.
