Banner Security Requests (FAQ)

Banner automates the university's administrative processes and includes modules for individuals, student, accounts receivable, finance, financial aid, human resources and payroll.

Security for Banner is granted based on the business need for an individual to be able to complete an essential job function. All requests are vetted by multiple approvers and are granted only on an 'as-needed' basis. All security objects are granted through security class and roles. Security classes are comprised of Pages that are accessible through Banner 9 Admin Pages. Roles are comprised of tables and views that are accessible through a SQL interface, such as Microsoft Access.

For Finance Security requests (Self Service access, fund/org security, approval authority), please submit a Finance Security Change Request.
For a request to grant, elevate, or reduce access, please contact your area's DUSM.  Please be ready to provide the ID of the individual, the forms required, and the business justification to the DUSM.
For a request to create or modify a security class or ODBC role, please contact your area's Data Custodian. Please be ready to provide the object (Page or table), the class or role to modify, and the business justification to the Data Custodian.
