Using the Duo Self-service Portal (How-to)

The Duo self-service portal allows anyone that has been enrolled in Duo to quickly manage their own profile and update preferences. This includes adding and removing devices used for authentication, changing the default authentication device (e.g., from phone to a tablet), setting the default authentication method for devices, activating the Duo Mobile app, and/or renaming devices.

The self-service portal can be accessed at duo.drake.edu. If you have been enrolled in Duo but have not completed the enrollment process by adding a secondary authentication device, you will not be able to access the portal.

Adding and Removing Devices

Adding a New Device

  1. Go to duo.drake.edu and log in with your Drake ID, password, and existing secondary authentication device. If you're adding a new device to replace one that you previously activated for Duo Push, don't select Send me a Push unless you still have the original device. If you don't have the original device, but you have a new device with the same phone number, then you can authenticate with Call Me or Enter a Passcode. If you don't have access to any previously enrolled devices, contact the ITS Support Center.

  2. After successful authentication, you will see the My Settings & Devices page. To start enrolling a new device, click Add another device.
  3. Proceed with the device enrollment process as shown in the Enrolling in Duo (How-to) article. Here's an example for adding a new phone.

Removing a Device

  1. Go to duo.drake.edu and log in with your Drake ID, password, and existing secondary authentication device. Don't use Duo to authenticate unless the push, phone call, or passcode(s) will be sent to a device in your possession. If the authentication is set up for a device that's been lost or stolen, contact the ITS Support Center for assistance.
  2. To begin removing an existing device, click Device Options next to the device you want to remove. My Settings & Devices screenshot
  3. Click the trash can button to delete a device.

  4. After clicking the button, a confirmation prompt will appear. Click Confirm to verify your device deletion.

NOTE: You may not remove your last device. If you wish to remove it, you first need to add a new device, then delete the original. If you are unable to delete a device, contact the ITS Support Center for assistance.

Modifying Existing Devices

Changing the Way you Sign In

If you authenticate with more than one device, you can specify which you'd like to be the default.

  1. Go to duo.drake.edu and log in with your Drake ID, password, and existing secondary authentication device. After successful authentication, you will see the My Settings & Devices page.
  2. Click the Default Device dropdown menu and choose your preferred default device for authentication.

You can also choose the authentication method used when logging into different applications, systems, and services. If this is the device you'll use most often with Duo then you may want to enable automatic push requests by changing the When I log in option and changing the setting from Ask me to choose an authentication method to Automatically send this device a Duo Push or Automatically call this device and click Save. With one of the automatic options enabled Duo automatically sends an authentication request via push notification to the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone or a phone call to your device (depending on your selection).

Reactivating Duo Mobile

If you're not already signed in, go to duo.drake.edu and log in with your Drake ID and password.

Use the Reactivate Duo Mobile button if you need to get Duo Push working on a new device that has the same phone number as a previous device.

After answering some questions about your device, you'll receive a new QR code to scan with your phone, which will complete the Duo Mobile activation process.

Changing Device Name

Clicking Change Device Name will open up an interface to change the display name of your phone (hardware tokens can't be renamed). Type in the new name and click Save.

After successfully modifying your phone's name, not only will you see this from now on when managing devices, but it will also be how your phone is listed in the authentication dropdown menu.
