Sharing Blackboard ePortfolios (How-To)

Sharing Portfolios from the My Portfolio Page

  1. On the My Portfolios page, select More after a portfolio's name.
  2. Select Share.
  3. Point to Share a Snapshot with and select one of the user types. Use this table to determine which sharing option to choose.
Who? What Happens?
Blackboard Learn Users **Preferred Method for on-campus peers/instructors/leaders/colleagues.
A snapshot of portfolio is listed in the user's Shared with Me.
NOTE: Peers/Instructors/Leaders/Colleagues must be discoverable in the User Directory in order to have portfolios shared with them in this manner.  
External Users **Preferred Method for off-campus peers/instructors/leaders/colleagues/future employers.
A URL is created and emailed to the specified users so that they can access your portfolio. This method will NOT allow portfolios to be in the Shared with Me folder for university peers and leaders/instructors. 
Courses or Organizations The portfolio is listed in the portfolios tool in the course or organization. Members of those courses and organizations can search for your portfolios. Search in the Shared with Me > Discover Portfolios option.  Please be aware about privacy and security of personal information when using this option with your classmates and instructors.
Institution Roles

All users with that role may search for your portfolio across the institution. This is a fairly way to share portfolios with many users of the same role at the institution. 
NOTE: Please be concerned about privacy and security of personal information when using this option.
Users allowed to search will use the Shared with Me > Discover Portfolios option.

All System Accounts

Any user on the system may search for your portfolio. This is the most public way to share portfolios.
NOTE: Please be concerned about privacy and security of personal information when using this option.
Users allowed to search will use the Shared with Me > Discover Portfolios option.

 

Submitting a Portfolios to an Assignment

In your course, there is an assignment setup to recieve ePortfolios as a submission type.  From that assignment, you may select your completed ePortfolio.  Click Submit to complete the submission and in turn, share your portfolio with instructors.
