Adding the Mobile Drake ID to Your Device (How-To)

Body

Starting in the Spring 2024 term, all active Drake users will have the options to add their Drake ID to their mobile device. This process is simple to complete and must be done by the user using the steps below. If you encounter any issues while adding your Drake ID to your device using these steps, please contact the Student Services Center by emailing studentservices@drake.edu or by calling 515-271-2000.

NOTE: Adding your Mobile Drake ID to your watch requires that the eAccounts app is first installed on the phone that the watch is connected to.

1. Accessing the eAccounts App

1. Download the eAccounts mobile app from the app store for your device.

  1. Open the app store on your device and search for "Transact eAccounts". (See the screenshots for app logo example for each app store)
  2. Instead of searching for the app in the app store, you can also click the link below from your mobile device or scan the QR code provided with your mobile device.

2. Adding your Mobile Drake ID

1. Adding the ID to your wallet.

  1. Once you have logged into the eAccounts App with your Drake log in, you can select "Add to Wallet"
    1. See the screen shots below for varying looks depending on phone type.
  2. NOTE: If you have a Samsung device with Samsung Wallet capabilities, you may be prompted to choose if you want to add the ID to your Samsung or Android Wallet. Either option is supported and can be chosen based on what your preference is.
  3. If you have a smart watch connected to your phone, you may be prompted to select if you want to add the ID to your phone or your watch. You can add the ID to both devices if you choose, but you will have to perform these steps for each device (i.e. - once for your phone and once for your watch).
  4. Depending on your device type, you maybe be prompted to confirm which device you are adding the ID Card to. You may select "Next" to continue forward.
  5. Your device will then begin adding your ID to your device.
  6. You will be prompted with Terms and Conditions before continuing forward. You will need to agree to those Terms and Conditions to complete the adding of the ID to your device.
  7. Once the process of adding the ID to the virtual wallet on your device is complete you will receive a confirmation screen where you can select "Done."

2. Using your Mobile ID

  1. Your Mobile Drake ID has now been added to the virtual wallet on your device. You can use that device as your Drake ID at any reader where physical cards are also accepted.
  2. To view your Mobile Drake ID, open the virtual wallet on your device and scroll to the Drake ID.
  3. The NFC chip is often located in different parts of the device depending on manufacturer and model. When tapping your device at a reader, please remember to try the back, front, and top of the device to determine where the chip is in your device.
  4. Some Android devices require that the user enable NFC (usually depicted as a wifi like symbol) to utilize the Mobile ID and may require that the screen be on or activated before tapping at a reader.

NOTE: For some smart watches, a pass code is required by the device manufacturer for security purposes in order to utilize an ID with the watch. This is a requirement designed and managed by the device manufacturer (not Drake University) and requires the pass code to be entered once every time the watch is put on before ID Cards can be used at a reader. Once the pass code has been entered the card can be used continually until the watch is removed from the wrist, after which the pass code will be required again when the watch is put back on.

NOTE: Device app stores and the eAccounts app are often updated companies that make those apps or devices. Therefore, the screen shots provided in this How-To may not always reflect the most up to date look and feel of the app or app stores.
