Configuring a Blackboard Course to Use Panopto (How-to)

Body

Panopto is a video content management system for creating, uploading, managing, and sharing video and audio files. It’s a centralized, secure place for recorded lectures, flipped classroom videos, campus events, and more. It comes with built-in video analytics, a web-based video editor, automatic encoding to ensure your videos play properly, automatic captioning, and a search engine. If you plan to use Panopto within your instruction, you must provision your Blackboard Panopto Course Folder each term.

Blackboard Course Set Up

NOTE: These steps must be completed by the instructor for each course in each term to allow you to create and distribute multimedia content. Permissions are course-specific, and any content created for this course/folder will be immediately viewable to all enrolled students in the course. Instructors are the only accounts who can create content for a course by default. If you would like for your students to create content, you must also Create An Assignment Folder for the course.

  1. Begin in a course where you are an instructor, and select Books and Tools located under the Details & Actions section.
  2. Select Ultra Version Panopto Video Library from the Available tools list, by clicking on the small plus symbol.

Once you have added the tool, a folder will be created for your course and will be easily accessible from within your Course Content.
