Record and Insert Your Video
Follow these steps to access the video recorder directly from the discussion and insert your recording:
- On the Discussion page, click inside the ‘post’ box to access the “Content editor.”
- From the content editor, select the “Insert content” button (far right ‘plus’ icon).
- In the menu that opens, choose “Content Market.”
- After the “Content Market” opens, select “Panopto Video Student Submission.”
- On the “Panopto Video Student Submission” page, three options are available. “Choose,” “Upload,” and “Record.” Select “Record.”
- Note: If you recorded your video using other software, choose “Upload” to add your recorded video instead.
- Type the name of your video in the "Name your recording" box.
- Note: Check the discussion instructions for your instructor's required/preferred naming convention.
- Select “Launch Capture” to record with Panopto Capture.
- Note: If asked, be sure to allow Panopto to access your camera and microphone.
- Check the "Audio," "Video," "Screen and Apps," and the 'settings' (gear icon) to ensure your recording is set up correctly and the right content will be captured.
- Click the red circle (record button) to begin recording.
- When finished, click the red square (stop button) to stop the recording.
- In the same Panopto window (black container), the recorded video will process. After processing is complete, it is recommended that you preview the video from the mini-player located on this page. If you are happy with the video that you recorded, close this window/tab. Do NOT close this tab until your video is done processing.
- Note: If you would like to re-record, select "Redo."
- Back on the "Panopto Video Student Submission" page, click "Insert."
- A pop-up window will appear, prompting you to confirm the name that will display in the assignment submission. After you have confirmed the name, click “Insert.”
- Your video will appear in the text editor window. You may add text as needed and then select "Post.”
