Connecting to a Wired Port On-Campus Using a Windows Computer (How-to)

Below are instructions for connecting to a wired network port from on-campus.
For on-campus residents: Before you can connect your Windows computer to a wired port in your residence hall, you will need to have put in a request for a Wired Network Issue. Wired ports are not activated in residence halls by default.
Enable 802.1X Authentication in Windows 10 and 11
NOTE: The screenshots and text were written for Windows 10, however they also apply to Windows 11. The dialog boxes and settings locations are largely the same in Windows 11.
Search for Services
- Click Start.
- Type Services.
- You can either right-click Services or select Run as administrator in the right pane.
- If you went through the Services link, then click Run as administrator.
NOTE: Faculty and staff will need to gain temporary administrative access to their computers by following the instructions at Obtaining Temporary Admin Access on a Windows Computer (How-to).
Computer Management menu
- Scroll down to find Wired AutoConfig.
- Double-click Wired AutoConfig.
