Using Action Items in Self Service (How-to)

Action Items are tasks assigned to you for completion in Self Service. Students, faculty, and staff can all have Action Items assigned in order to alert you to a task. Some Action Items will prevent you from accessing a Self Service page until they are completed. For example, students will be required to complete a Student Financial Responsibility Agreement for each term before they are able to view their schedule or register for courses.


1. Accessing Action Items

1. If Action Item prevents access

  1. Click CONTINUE to view the Action Item.
  2. Click CANCEL to return to the previous page. 
    1. You will not be able to view the page until you complete the Action Item

2. If Action Item does not prevent access 

  1. Click View Action Item(s) to complete your Action Item.
  2. Click Dismiss to complete it later.

3. View Action Items without a prompt

  1. If you dismiss either prompts shown above, but want to view the Action Items at a later date, access the General Self Service home page and click on Action Items.

2. Viewing and Completing Action Items

1. Select Action Item Group

  1. There could be multiple Action Items that are assigned to you as a group. Select the Action Item Group to see any special instructions related to the Action Item(s).

2. Completing an Action Item

  1. Click on the Action Item title. This will show the Action Item on the right side of the screen.
  2. Review the Action Item.
    1. You may need to scroll down to see the entire Action Item.
  3. Follow the instructions to complete the Action Item.
  4. Once completed, the status will change from Pending to Completed.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 for each Action Item.
