Configuring a Panopto Assignment Folder for Student Video Submissions (How-to)

An assignment folder is a special Panopto sub-folder that allows students to create and submit recordings privately for the course. Course instructors can see and control all content submitted to the assignment folder.

NOTE: Panopto must be configured for your course before completing the below steps.

Assignment Folder Setup

  1. Log into your Blackboard Course and select Books & Tools.
  2. In the Tools Menu, select Ultra Version Panopto Video Library.
  3. Click the Gear icon for Panopto folder settings.
  4. Select Create Assignment Folder. Panopto is now configured for student assignments.

Assignment Folder Renaming

The default naming convention of the assignment folder is in this format: YearTerm-Dept-Course#-CRN: Course Name [assignments]. Because the [assignments] identifier is at the end of the folder name, it can be difficult to locate quickly the assignments folder, especially on a mobile device. If desired, the name of the assignment folder can be changed after configuration.

  1. Select the existing assignment folder and click on the Settings gear icon in the upper-right corner
  2. Select Edit from the Folder Name and Type the new assignments folder name in this format: [Assignments] 202020-ABC-123-####: Course Name.
  3. Select Save.

Assignment Folder Sharing

By default, only the course instructor(s) can view all videos in an assignment folder. Students will not be able to see any other user's videos in the folder. To allow students to see others' videos in the assignment folder:

  1. Open the Settings menu for the Assignments folder and navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. Select the check box next to Allow viewers to see each other's sessions.
