Blackboard Learn for Students (FAQ)

Below are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about Blackboard Learn, our campus Learning Management System (LMS), for students. 

Why can't I see my course in Blackboard Learn?
  • Courses remain hidden/unavailable until the instructor makes the course available.
  • It takes anywhere from 24 to 48 hours (depending on the time of day of the registration) to be added to a Blackboard Learn course.
  • If the semester has already started and the course is still not visible on Blackboard Learn, please contact your instructor to inquire about their use of Blackboard Learn for the course.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
  • Blackboard Learn uses your Drake password. If you forgot your Drake password, you can reset it using the Password Manager.
How do I get Respondus Lockdown Browser?
  • Log in to Blackboard Learn and on the Institution Page, find the section about Respondus LockDown Browser. Click on the option to "Download the Respondus LockDown Browser Software," and follow the on-screen instructions.

NOTE: Software downloads are for computers, not mobile devices or tablets.

Which browser should I use to access Blackboard Learn?
  • For Windows users, we recommend using either Firefox or Google Chrome. Please avoid using Edge, Internet Explorer, or Safari for Windows.
  • For Mac users, we recommend using either Firefox or Google Chrome. Please avoid using Safari.
Does my device meet the requirements for Blackboard Learn?
Can I access my course on my phone or tablet?
  • Yes. You may use the browser on your device or download the Blackboard app from the appropriate app store.
Are there any tutorials on how to use Blackboard Learn?
  • Once logged in to Blackboard, on any page in the lower corner you will find a Question Mark (?) that will lead you to resources about the feature in Blackboard you are currently accessing.
  • You can access Blackboard Learn's Student Help section.
