Setting up PuTTY for Use in MySQL (How-to)

1. Connect to the Zimpleman Desktop in Remote Desktop

1. Open Remote Desktop. If Remote Desktop is not installed on your computer, please reference the knowledge base articles for Azure Virtual Desktops.
2. Under Zimpleman College of Business, double click on Zimpleman Desktop.

2. Configure the PuTTY Client

1. Open PuTTY

1. Click on the Search button (magnifying glass icon) on the task bar.
2. In the search bar, type in PuTTY.
3. In the search results, click on PuTTY.

2. Connecting to the server

1. In the Host Name field, type in data.drake.edu
2. Click Open.

3. If you are prompted with a PuTTY Security Alert dialog box, click the Accept button to proceed.

4. At the logon as: prompt, type in your Drake ID number if you are a student. If you are a professor, use your last name as the user name.
5. Type your Drake Password and press Enter. NOTE: You will not see the characters as you type them.

If the log in was successful, you will see a screen similar to the one above. You are now ready to set up MySQL Workbench.
