Authorizing Parent or Family Access to Student Information (How-to)

Students may grant authorization to family members to view certain parts of their educational record through the myDrake portal. For the purpose of this article, the following items apply to a student’s educational record:

  • Final grades
  • Midterm grades
  • Unofficial transcript
  • Residence hall damage
  • Registration for a Drake parking tag
  • Holds
  • 1098-T forms

NOTE: A separate process exists for students to designate their parent(s) or guardian(s) as an authorized user for financial account information. Information on that process is linked to the right.

1. Access myDrake Form

First, the student's family member or parent must complete the Access myDrake form.

2. Registrar's Office

The Office of the Registrar must then associate the family member’s account to the student’s educational record. Please allow two business days for this step to complete. The family member will receive email notification when this step has been completed.

3. Log into myDrake

  1. Once the family member has received the email, the student needs to go to myDrake and log in.
  2. Click the MyDUSIS link in the Commonly Used Apps section.

4. Student Gives Authorization

  1. Within MyDUSIS, the student should select Student Services & Financial Aid.
  2. Click the Parent & Family Access Authorization link.
  3. Click Give Authorization Here.
  4. From the drop-down menu, the student should select the name of the family member/parent being granted access. NOTE: If there is not a name in the drop-down menu then the request form is still being processed.
  5. Click Submit.

When all of these steps have been completed, family members may log in to their own myDrake account and view the information to which the student has granted them access.

At any time, students may follow the instructions in Step 4 to view or change any authorization that they have granted.

For questions, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 515-271-2025 or registrar@drake.edu.
