Available Software Downloads (FAQ)

All students are eligible for free or reduced price software, including the latest versions of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for Mac or Windows, and Sophos antivirus. Software is available beginning 30 days prior to the start of the fall semester. Faculty and staff are eligible for discounted or free software.


Mathematica

Mathematica is available to students and faculty (including faculty emeritus) for personally owned devices. Complete this form to request a key and installation media. See further instructions linked to the right.

Microsoft Office Suite

STUDENTS:
Students can download Microsoft Office software for free. This software is linked to your Drake email account, so you will be able to use it until you graduate, and then three years afterwards as long as you keep your password up to date. 

You can download the software from the myDrake campus portal at my.drake.edu.

  1. Click on the grid menu (waffle) in the upper left corner.
  2. Click the Office 365 link.
  3. On the Office 365 page, click the Install Office button and follow the on-screen instructions.

FACULTY & STAFF:
Faculty and staff may obtain and use a copy of Office for personal use on their home (non-university owned) computer. To download Microsoft Office for personal use, follow the instructions above. If you need to update software on your Drake-owned computer, use the Software Center (PC) or the Self Service app (Mac). Instructions on using these can be found linked at the right.

Sophos Antivirus

Students, faculty, and staff can download Sophos Antivirus software. See instructions linked to the right for your computer type.

SPSS

Faculty, staff, and students may purchase a copy of SPSS products for personal use on non university-owned computers via drake.onthehub.com. Once you get to the site, select more software. For faculty, if you need SPSS on your Drake-owned computer, use the Software Center (PC) or the Self Service app (Mac). Instructions on using these can be found linked at the right.
