Clearing your Multi-Factor Authentication Settings (How-to)

Drake requires the use of multi-factor authentication (MFA) when logging into key campus systems. This means using your Drake login and password, along with an additional verification method for access. If you lose your phone, or have a new device, you may encounter issues using MFA. To resolve any authentication issues, please follow the steps below to clear your current MFA settings so you can re-register.

1. Sign in to Password Manager

  1. Visit password.drake.edu then enter your Drake email address or ID and password.
  2. Click Sign In.

  4. Select and perform your Verification Method using the drop down menu. Options here will depend on recovery methods you previously supplied, whether a personal email address, mobile phone number for text messaging, or the use of security questions.

2. Reset MFA Options

  1. After verifying your identity, you'll be shown MFA methods registered on your account. Click Reset MFA Settings to clear them.
    Reset 1

  2. You'll then see a Success message letting you know all previously registered methods have been reset. Click Home to return to the main page and log out.

You'll now want to read Getting Started with the Microsoft Authenticator app (How-to) to prepare to set up your new default method. You will be immediately prompted to register a new multi-factor authentication method when you next log in to a system that requires MFA.

If you encounter any issues with clearing your MFA settings, please submit a Multi-Factor Authentication Issue or call the support center at 515-271-3001 for assistance.
